Vera Bradley was THE bag for teenage girls in the late 90s and early 2000s. But in the era of clean greiges and quiet luxury, the brand lost its way. We wanted to remind millennial women that it’s never too late to tap into the colorful, chaotic, obsessive selves they were as teens. So we went straight to the source: yearny fanfiction from the early aughts.
We scoured the internet for fan fiction stories about unadulterated teen crushes. And then, we made one girl’s Y2K fantasy a reality…

It stars Kristen Mulrooney, the now 40 year-old author, playing her teen self, alongside a now 46 year-old Devon Sawa as her teen love interest. And of course, everyone was outfitted in Vera Bradley’s new fall collection.
